On February 13, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian attended the Munich Security Conference where he met with Conference Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, and Federal Government of Germany Special Representative for the OSCE Chairmanship Gernot Erler.

Nalbandian applauded the Munich Security Conference for presenting on current international security challenges each year. Nalbandian addressed the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), James Warlick (U.S.), Pierre Andrieu (France), and OSCE Chairman in Office Personal Representative Andrzej Kasprzyk.

“By ignoring the targeted appeals of the international community, Azerbaijan continues to drastically violate trilateral agreements on the establishment an consolidation of the ceasefire regime, refuses the creation of mechanisms for investigating incidents, undertakes attempts to shift the discussions on the settlement of the issue into other formats, and criticizes the Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship format. All of these prove that Baku spares no efforts to undermine the settlement process,” Nalbandian said. “Furthermore, those actions of the Azerbaijani side, as well as the public refusal to meet with the Co-Chairs, contribute to the maintenance of the status-quo, to which Co-Chairs and Armenia have always opposed,” he continued.

Minister Nalbandian reaffirmed that Armenia will continue its joint efforts with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to resolve the Nagorno Karabakh issue exclusively through peaceful means.

During this meeting, Nalbandian touched upon the OSCE agenda issues and implementation of the German Chairmanship’s priorities, discussing regional and international security issues in addition to settlement possibilities.
