Please join the Armenian Assembly of America and the Southern California Armenian community for a special luncheon honoring California State Senator Anthony Portantino on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Chevy Chase Country Club, in Glendale, CA.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to reschedule this event following the fires which have impacted greater Los Angeles," said Assembly Western Region Director David Ojakian. "Hosting this important luncheon is an opportunity to bring the community together for a special afternoon honoring Senator Portantino, one of our state's strongest pro-Armenian advocates."

Senator Portantino, who represented California's 25th State Senate District, and served in the legislature since 2006, has been a recognized leader in the Armenian diaspora for his advocacy of Genocide affirmation and longstanding ties to the Armenian community. He co-authored legislation to teach the Armenian Genocide in California public schools, and throughout his tenure he has supported Armenian language programs in public schools and fostered international cooperation between California and Armenia. He also spearheaded efforts to secure robust state funding for The Armenian American Museum and Cultural Center of California.

As the chair of the California State Senate Select Committee on California, Armenia, and Artsakh Mutual Trade, Art, and Cultural Exchange, he led delegations to Armenia and Artsakh multiple times. Senator Portantino spent two weeks in September 2024 teaching public policy and leadership at the American University of Armenia.

Registration is available here. Please RSVP by February 28, 2025. If you have any questions, please contact David Ojakian at dojakian@aaainc.org or (626) 577-0025.
