Please join the Armenian Assembly of America and the Southern California Armenian community for a New Year Brunch gathering honoring California State Senator Anthony Portantino on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Chevy Chase Country Club, in Glendale, CA.
"We are excited to kick off the new year with our Southern California Armenian American community and friends to honor Senator Portantino, who has stood shoulder to shoulder with the Armenian people," said Assembly Western Region Director David Ojakian.
Senator Portantino, who represents California's 25th State Senate District, has been a recognized leader in the Armenian diaspora for his advocacy of Genocide affirmation and longstanding ties to the Armenian community. He co-authored legislation to teach the Armenian Genocide in California public schools, and throughout his tenure he has supported Armenian language programs in public schools and fostered international cooperation between California and Armenia.
As the chair of the California State Senate Select Committee on California, Armenia, and Artsakh Mutual Trade, Art, and Cultural Exchange, he has led delegations to Armenia and Artsakh multiple times. Senator Portantino spent two weeks in September 2024 teaching public policy and leadership at the American University of Armenia.
Registration is available here. Please RSVP by Tuesday, January 7, 2025. If you have any questions, please contact David Ojakian at dojakian@aaainc.org or (626) 577-0025.
