On April 20, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan received heads and representatives from the Yazidi and Assyrian communities in Armenia, Europe, and Russia.
The Yazidi and Assyrian representatives expressed their gratitude for Armenia’s caring and welcoming reception towards their communities, as well as Armenia’s efforts towards ending deportations, persecutions, and pogroms of Yazidis and Assyrians in the Middle East by terrorist groups.
They referenced the centuries-old tradition of friendly relations between brotherly Yazidi and Assyrian people. Deputy Minister assured them that Armenia will continue to undertake subsequent steps to prevent crimes against humanity committed against religious and other minorities and to overcome the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East.
During the meeting, they also discussed possibilities to further strengthen cooperation between the friendly communities in different areas.
