This summer, the America Jewish Committee (AJC) and former U.S. Ambassador Peter Rosenblatt hosted Dr. Rouben Adalian, Director of the Armenian National Institute (ANI), and the Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) summer interns for an informative presentation moderated by Jason Isaacson, AJC Director of Government and International Affairs.
The AJC and Assembly interns had the unique opportunity to hear first-hand Ambassador Rosenblatt and Dr. Adalian discuss issues affecting the Jewish American and Armenian American communities, in an effort to strengthen mutual understanding and respect. During the discussion, AJC and Assembly interns were able to chime in, raise questions, and engage in a robust discussion on a host of issues, including but not limited to the importance of genocide affirmation for the Armenian community, concerns over the Syrian civil war and the legacy of the Armenian Genocide, Armenian refugees from Syria, patterns of minority emigration from the greater Middle East, the importance of the historical presence of the Armenian community in Jerusalem, and the security and self-determination of Nagorno-Karabakh.
