Garo Paylan to File Complaint Against Erdogan

Member of the People’s Democratic Party of Turkey Garo Paylan, a Turkish lawmaker of Armenian origin, announced he is initiating a lawsuit against Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Paylan posted on Twitter.

In addition to the announcement, Paylan posted footage on Twitter showing a crowd cursing Armenians during an Erdogan speech from October 15. The audience was shouting “Armenian scums,” while Erdogan was smiling.

“The crowd which gathered in Trabzon for President Erdogan’s speech is cursing Armenians. No one interfered. I will file a complaint in the court tomorrow,” Paylan wrote.

On October 17, Garo Paylan filed a complaint against the members of the organizing committee who welcomed Erdogan and the people who chanted the slogan under the 216th article of the Turkish Criminal Law (TCL), which is inciting the public to hatred and hostility or humiliation, and the 125th article of the TCL, which is defamation.
