Armenian Assembly of America Appoints Development and Grassroots Associate Mariam Khaloyan

The Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) welcomes Mariam Khaloyan as the new Development and Grassroots Associate at the Assembly’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. She was this past summer’s intern coordinator for the Terjenian-Thomas Assembly Internship Program and was a research intern at the Armenian National Institute in 2015.

“As a former intern and recent graduate with strong ties to the homeland, Mariam will make a great addition to the Armenian Assembly’s team,” said Executive Director Bryan Ardouny.  "With the 40th anniversary of the Assembly’s internship program approaching in 2017, we are proud of our commitment to the next generation of leaders.  More than half of our staff as well as five board members are Assembly intern alumni, and with Mariam as part of our staff, we will continue to expand our outreach,“ Ardouny added.

Khaloyan recently graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Previously, she was a consultant at the Armenian American Wellness Center, which is the humanitarian project of the Armenian American Cultural Association, Inc. (AACA) that provides high quality healthcare services to women in Armenia.

"I am honored to be part of the Armenian Assembly and to have the opportunity to work closely with our State Chairs, regional councils, and over 1,000 Assembly intern alumni,” Khaloyan stated. “I look forward to expanding our outreach as we encourage more participation and activism across the country to help Armenia and Artsakh.”
